Volkswagen provides Passat Variant for 'Kulturstiftung der Länder'

On Wednesday this week, Volkswagen handed over the keys to a black Passat Variant with 1.8-litre TSI engine and dual clutch gearbox to the 'Kulturstiftung der Länder' — Germany's official cultural foundation. The vehicle was accepted in Wolfsburg by Dr. Martin Hoernes, the foundation's deputy secretary general. The foundation, which is based in Berlin, will be able to use the Passat Variant whenever it wishes.

Speaking on the occasion of the handover, Dr. Gerhard Prätorius, who heads up sustainability operations at Volkswagen, said: "Volkswagen has always considered supporting future-focused topics such as education and culture to be a key part of its social responsibility. We are therefore delighted to be able to contribute to the important work conducted by the 'Kulturstiftung der Länder' by providing the foundation with a vehicle."

Dr. Martin Hoernes, deputy secretary general at the 'Kulturstiftung der Länder', went on to add: "We are thrilled to be receiving support from Volkswagen. With its economical dual clutch gearbox, the Passat TSI is the perfect vehicle for us." Going forward, the vehicle will help with the various journeys made in all 16 German states. The 'Kulturstiftung der Länder' has been helping German museums, libraries and archives to acquire and conserve cultural treasures since 1988: In Lower Saxony, for instance, some valuable Baroque goblets from Yves-Saint-Laurent's collection were recently acquired for the cities of Braunschweig and Celle.
