Hans Demant moves to Volkswagen Group

He takes charge of international project coordination from October 1, 2010

Hans Demant (59) takes charge of international project coordination at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft effective October 1, 2010. In this capacity he reports direct to the Chairman of the Board of Management, Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, who underlined: “The Volkswagen Group’s successful growth strategy calls for the intensive coordination of our international projects. We have been fortunate in being able to recruit such an experienced colleague as Hans Demant for this task.”

Hans Demant joined Adam Opel AG in 1972. The engineering graduate was appointed project manager for the Corsa model series in 1989, and was placed in charge of the vehicle concept department in the pre-development division in 1992. Demant assumed technical responsibility for all of GM’s small car projects worldwide in 1997. He was appointed Vice President Engineering at General Motors Europe in 2001 and in addition named Managing Director of Adam Opel AG in 2004. He has been Vice President Global Intellectual Property Rights at General Motors since January 2010.
