- Volkswagen agrees to explore local vehicle production in Malaysia
- Expanding activities in ASEAN region with Malaysian partner DRB Hicom

Volkswagen continues to expand its commitment in South East Asia in the context of its Strategy 2018 growth plan. To strengthen existing sales activities and the market presence of Volkswagen in Malaysia, a "Memorandum of Understanding" to investigate local vehicle production was signed on Friday, August 13th with the selected partner company "DRB Hicom". The joint plans envisage the production of Volkswagen models in Malaysia from 2012 onwards.
