Volkswagen Group reduces CO2 emissions in key account business

Dataforce study attests low CO2 emissions for Volkswagen fleet

The Volkswagen Group’s CO2 emissions for key account business in the first half of 2011 averaged 136 grams per km, below the EU threshold of 140 grams CO2/km. This has been attested by a recent study conducted by the Dataforce market research institute.

With emissions averaging 127 grams CO2/km, vehicles from the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand in particular were well below the EU threshold. Emissions from the vehicles delivered to key account customers by the Wolfsburg-based automaker have been below the EU guideline since 2006, and the company has constantly reduced these levels further since then.

“Sustainability is and will remain an important pillar of our corporate policy. The study’s findings confirm the Volkswagen Group takes sustainable mobility in the fleet market, as elsewhere, very seriously. We will continue to provide our customers with support for a sustainable fleet strategy and will be offering an even more efficient product range going forward,” Martin Jahn, Managing Director Volkswagen Group Fleet International, commented.

The recent study also documents that environmental compatibility along with low consumption and emissions rank among the top 3 criteria in the choice of fleet vehicles.
The Volkswagen Group responds to this with a diverse product portfolio: “Currently, fleet customers can choose from 235 model variants emitting less than 130 grams CO2/km, 127 emitting less than 120 grams CO2/km, and 19 with emissions of less than
100 grams CO2/km,” Jahn said.

With a market share of 47.9 percent in the first half of 2011, the Group holds pole position in the German key account passenger car business.
