Digital pioneers wanted!

Developing an app at school? Volkswagen is making young people fit for the digital future with its new xStarters support program. Our film shows you how.

At 8:30 a.m. sharp, a big truck stops in front of the Phorms School in Berlin-Wedding. The students of the 12th grade are already eagerly waiting, because today they will get to design an app that helps older people to stay mobile. They will be supported by the xStarters team. The new Volkswagen program fosters the digital skills of young people and aims to teach pupils aged between 14 and 19 the basics of programming in a fun way. Developers, designers, educators, psychologists and social media specialists will be on hand to help them and will be touring all over Germany with their xStarters truck.

xStarters Challenge starts in October

But the truck is only the beginning. The Volkswagen xStarters competition for digital education and social ideas, in which young developers can submit and implement their ideas for digital solutions, will start as early as mid-October. The 15 best teams will be invited to a final event and awards ceremony in Wolfsburg in February 2019. Registration and further information can be found here: www.xstarters.digital.
