The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG transferred responsibility for 'Finance and Controlling' at Group level in the Board of Management to Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing. Hans Dieter Pötsch with effect from 5 September 2003. The Supervisory Board had already appointed Hans Dieter Pötsch as full member of the Board of Management, initially without portfolio, with effect from 1 January 2003.
Hans Dieter Pötsch was born on 28 March 1951 in Traun, near Linz, Austria. He studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.
He started his professional career at BMW, where he worked from 1979 until 1987, lastly as Head of Group Controlling. After this, he was appointed General Manager for Finance and Administration at Trumpf GmbH & Co in Ditzingen, Germany. From 1991 until 1995, Hans Dieter Pötsch was Chairman of the Board of Management of Traub AG, Reichenbach, Germany.
In July 1995, Hans Dieter Pötsch moved to Dürr AG in Stuttgart, Germany, where, until the end of 2002 he was Chairman of the Board of Management, and also responsible for the central function 'Quality Management, Planning, Internal Auditing and Company Communications'.
