Competition for Best Trainee
Volkswagen Trainee Cup represents an important building block in encouraging the next generation.
Manuel Schramm from Dresden and Stefan Aulinger from Munich are the winners of this year’s Volkswagen Trainee Cup, which is awarded to the best apprentices in the VW Commercial Organisation. A total of eight technical and eight commercial trainees participated in the competition. Before this they had already taken part in preliminary rounds in Berlin, Unna und Würzburg within a field of 80 employees in total.
The Trainee Cup, which Volkswagen Service and Sales Germany launched for the first time in 2004, was well received this time too. Of the large number of applications, 200 fulfilled the demanding criteria for participation. A good average grade and a letter of recommendation from the managing directors of the garage were part of this as was a creatively completed application form. The eight person jury consisting of specialists from Volkswagen and the wholesale trade then selected the 80 participants for the preliminary rounds, in which the 16 finalists were selected. Dietmar Hildebrandt, Head of Volkswagen After Sales, emphasised: “In the Trainee Cup, Volkswagen underlines the importance of the qualifications gained by the trainees and therefore also by the commercial organisation. This leads to greater customer satisfaction.”
The programme of tests took place in the Volkswagen Technical Service Centre (TSC) in Wolfsburg from Monday of this week until yesterday. The participants had to pass five practical tests, a multiple choice test and two practical exercises which were each undertaken by one commercial and one technical trainee, working together. The programme was supplemented by a tour of the VW Works, Wolfsburg. Volkswagen performed the final award ceremony at Autostadt. The Trainee Cup is an important building block in our programme to encourage the next generation “Look around – the future in sight – Volkswagen”. Volkswagen and the Commercial Organisation have been using this programme for six years now to implement a wide range of measures to recruit, encourage and gain the loyalty of the next generation in the company’s partner operations.
