Flexible Offers for Childcare

Volkswagen Launches a New Childcare Portal on the Employees’ Portal

Whether a childminder or babysitter, crèche place or full-time supervision – Volkswagen has created a new way for parents to organise individual care for children. The new childcare portal on the employees’ portal, an internal online platform with information and exchange opportunities for Volkswagen employees, will bring together parents seeking and offering care.

The childcare portal was created on the initiative of the Volkswagen group for the encouragement of women at work to further improve the compatibility of work and family life. Using an offer/search function, parents can find an individual care solution and childminders and babysitters can benefit from the simple means of making contact. It is especially when they are the parents of young children that women or men are happy to take care of an additional child. The internet page supplements the offer with an overview of regional providers of childcare and other links on the subject. “For us, it was not only important for additional care opportunities to come about, but also for young parents to establish their own networks and support each other,” says Elisabeth Vogelheim, Head of the Group for the Encouragement of Women at Work at Volkswagen AG.

The Volkswagen group for the encouragement of women at work also has various projects to support young mothers and fathers returning to work. For example, the seminar “Family Management and Work” teaches the allocation of work and personal time management and deals with legal and operational questions from the participants. “We want to draw attention to the many ways of making the return to work easier and of realising the personal work-life balance,” explains Erika Stetz, Chair of the Equality Committee of the Group Works Council.
