Japanese Edition of the Sustainability Report
The Volkswagen Group Japan has published a regional edition of the Volkswagen AG 2005/2006 Sustainability Report.
In addition to adapted contents of the Group section, a special feedback questionnaire and regional contact addresses, Japanese readers will find specific information about the activities of Volkswagen in Japan.
The Volkswagen Group Japan (VGJ) was founded in 1989 as an import company and has a long tradition in environmental protection. It received its ISO 9001 certification in 1997; the Volkswagen dealers in Japan received their certification from 1998. In 2000 VGJ’s Vehicle Preparation Center was certified according ISO 14001 for its work in the field of environmental protection. For example, in 2004 it completely dispensed with protective wax for the imported vehicles and instead switched over to recyclable bodywork protective covers. In January 2004 the Japanese edition of the Volkswagen 2001/2002 Environmental Report received the “Award for the Report on Sustainability" at the seventh “Environmental Report Grand Prix” in Tokyo.
The report was printed using environmentally friendly soya ink on 100 per cent recycled paper and is also available as a download from a specially created VGJ website on a chapter-by-chapter basis or from www.volkswagen-nachhaltigkeit.de as the whole report.
