Volkswagen Group is market leader in international fleet business
10.5 percent increase in passenger car registrations on five largest EU markets
The Volkswagen Group holds pole position in the fleet business on the five largest EU markets of Germany, UK, France, Spain and Italy. According to Dataforce, the market research institute, fleet registrations of vehicles produced by the Wolfsburg-based group with its passenger car brands Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda from January to September 2006 totaled 445,827 units (403,582 in 2005). This figure corresponds to an increase of 10.5 percent. The market share in this sector thus rose to 23 percent (22 percent in 2005).
The Volkswagen brand was particularly successful. With 246,580 registrations after nine months (205,718 in 2005), the brand progressed from second place to pole position in the passenger car brand ranking. The Volkswagen Passat is the most popular model for fleet customers in the five largest EU markets with a total of 85,580 registrations, and is followed by the Golf with 66,561 vehicles registered.
