Deliveries of Volkswagen commercial vehicles set historic half-year record
• Deliveries from world-wide production climb by 7.6 percent to 231,500 vehicles
• Deliveries from European production rise by 4.6 percent to 180,500 vehicles
• Deliveries in the first half-year reach the highest level since the founding of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand
The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle brand has increased wold-wide deliveries to customers by 7.6 percent to 231,500 vehicles in the first half of 2007 (215,000 im previous year). With this, the manufacturer of light commercial vehicles, MPVs and motor caravans in Europe as well as heavy trucks and busses in Latin America has set a new delivery record.
“We are continuing our success and have again achieved the best delivery result for a first half year in the brand history,” reports Harald Schomburg, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles board member for sales and marketing. “At the same time, we were successful with all models in both the European and the overseas markets.
" Deliveries of vehicles from European production rose by 4.6 percent to about 180,500 units (1st half year 2006: 172,500 units). The individual models achieved the following results:
• World-wide Caddy deliveries increased by 7.4 percent to 66,800 vehicles (2006: 62,200)
• Deliveries of the Transporter and Multivan models increased by 3.7 percent to 93,350 vehicles (2006: 90,000)
• Crafter deliveries increased by 1.5 percent to 20,600 vehicles (2006: 20,300)
The Brazilian truck division of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Volkswagen Trucks and Buses, could further extend the high level of the previous year due to good export figures and a strong position in the important domestic Brazilian market to about 21,750 deliveries world-wide (previous year: 17.700).
