Argentine delegation visits Volkswagen in Wolfsburg

Dr. Cristina E. Fernandez de Kirchner, Senator, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic, Dr. Jorge E. Taiana, came to Volkswagen in Wolfsburg on Sunday in the course of their visit to Germany.

Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, welcomed the guests. Dr. Viktor Klima, Chief Representative - South America Operations and President of Volkswagen Argentina, also attended.

The importance of Volkswagen Argentina was stressed during an intensive exchange of information and experience. A product presentation rounded off the visit.

With a workforce of about 3,700 people, Volkswagen Argentina is a key employer in the Argentine automobile industry and was established in 1980. Argentina is one of Volkswagen’s ten largest national markets. Every fourth vehicle delivered in Argentina is a VW, making Volkswagen the clear market leader in the country. At its Pacheco plant, Volkswagen Argentina produces the models Caddy 2, Polo Classic and Suran; engines are also assembled there. About 47,000 vehicles left the Pacheco plant in 2006. Transmissions are produced at Cordoba.
