Volkswagen brand sales rise 12.5 percent in October
– Strongest monthly growth so far

318,000 vehicles delivered worldwide
Record for January – October as well: 3.04 million vehicles sold

The Volkswagen brand delivered 318,000 vehicles worldwide in October 2007, an increase of 12.5 percent compared with the same month in 2006, representing the strongest monthly growth so far this year. Vehicle deliveries in the first ten months of 2007 rose by 8.7 percent. Customers around the world bought 3.04 million Volkswagen brand vehicles, the highest number ever for such a period.

“Our broad spectrum of models ranging from the Fox to the Phaeton with their innovative technologies and equipment, further new quality products such as the recently-launched Tiguan and an ever-better focus on individual markets are stimulating further growth for the Volkswagen brand. With over 3.5 million vehicles due for delivery by the end of the year, nothing stands in the way of a new sales record,” commented Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and the Volkswagen brand.

He added that Volkswagen had impressively staked its claim to be the most innovative high-volume brand. According to Winterkorn, Volkswagen was opening the door to forward-looking mobility and a product world with the highest customer benefit, offering appropriate concepts such as the New Small Family, whose third member is now being presented at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The first two concepts already generated considerable public interest at the IAA in Frankfurt and the Tokyo Motor Show.

Of the ten biggest individual markets worldwide for the Volkswagen brand, the highest rise in sales came in Brazil, with an increase of 34.3 percent between January and October 2007. Over 399,000 VW models were delivered here. This was followed by China, also Volkswagen’s largest individual market, with a plus of 27.5 percent (652,000 deliveries) and Argentina with an increase of 21.0 percent (87,000 deliveries). More Volkswagen models were sold in these three markets during the first ten months of this year than during the whole of 2006.
