Volkswagen Group China donates six million RMB to Sichuan

Volkswagen Group China, together with its both joint ventures, donated six million RMB to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to support the rescue and reconstruction efforts in Wenchuan/Sichuan province. This region was struck by destructive earthquakes on Monday. Rainfalls have been worsening the situation since then.

“We are deeply concerned about this natural catastrophe with all its devastating impact on the people of Wenchuan and their property. In the name of Volkswagen Group China I express our strong compassion for the people in this region,“ Dr. Winfried Vahland, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, said.

Since venturing into China, Volkswagen Group China has been taken its responsibility to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and other challenges, such as the flood in 1998, the SARS epidemic in 2003, the typhoon Bilis in 2006 and the heavy snowstorms early 2008.
