Volkswagen Group once again takes pole position with German fleet customers in first six months

Almost every second fleet vehicle comes from Group

Fleet business for the Volkswagen Group with its Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda brands continued to develop well during the first six months of 2008. In the passenger car fleet market which targets key accounts with a fleet of at least ten vehicles, 78,779 cars registered (2007: 77,215 cars) were models from Volkswagen Group brands. This corresponds to an increase of two percent.

With a rise of 6.2 percent, the Volkswagen brand was particularly successful in the passenger car brand ranking. With 50,352 registered vehicles (2007: 47,426 vehicles) the Wolfsburg-based company continued to hold a very clear lead in the brand ranking.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles remains the undisputed market leader in the separate category of light commercial vehicles with a GVWR of five metric tons, with 13,340 registered vehicles (2007: 11,532).

“These statistics show that our customers have confidence in our superior product quality and innovative technology. For us, this is an incentive to meet our customers’ wishes with highly competitive vehicles and services in the second half of the year as well,” Dr. Stefan Brungs, Head Volkswagen Group Fleet International, commented.
