International Motor Show in Geneva
Eight automobile premieres from the Volkswagen Group on the eve of the first press day
On the eve of the first press day at the 78th International Motor Show in Geneva Volkswagen presented the latest models from the Group’s brands to some 1,400 national and international journalists and VIP guests in an impressive show, once again highlighting brand diversity. The motto for the evening was “Driving Ideas – Geneva Spring Event”: eight premieres at one event, introduced by the Group Chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn and the brand chairmen themselves. An exciting short film about the newcomers was followed by a parade of all the new models, accompanied by light effects and music tuned to the character of the different brands, with each vehicle introduced to the audience in a five-minute rhythm as it was driven down a runway crossing the center of the stage.
The climax to a fascinating evening came with the world premiere of the new Volkswagen Scirocco. Brand board member Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg didn’t miss the opportunity to personally present the latest member of the Volkswagen family. According to Hackenberg, the new Scirocco is a sports car for every day of the year at truly affordable prices. Following the presentations, the guests had the opportunity to photograph the Scirocco, the Audi A4 Avant and Audi Q7 “Coastline” with its 12-cylinder TDI engine, the Bentley Brooklands, the Lamborghini Gallardo, the SEAT “Bocanegra” study, the new Škoda Superb and Superb “Greenline” as well as the Caddy Maxi EcoFuel, and discover their merits close up in each of the specially-designed brand worlds. The media representatives learnt more about the products, brands and Group strategies from their discussions with Board members.
