Volkswagen Group Evening – Paris Motor Show 2008

Nine strong brands and plenty of great models. At the exhibition park in northern Paris, the Volkswagen Group put on an impressive display under the motto of “Prêt à rouler”.

As Chairman Martin Winterkorn explained, the Group’s diversity was unique in the automobile world: “The Volkswagen Group makes automotive dreams, both big and small, come true.” He added that customers did not have to chose between one or the other option, but could in fact take both.

Fascinating products that also set the pace in environmental protection and responsibility. Today, the Volkswagen product offering already includes 91 models with emissions of less than 140 g CO2/km, with 20 of these even emitting less than 120 grammes.

The BlueTDI already fulfils the Euro-6 standard for 2014. The new Golf BlueMotion, for example, consumes a mere 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers and emits only 99 g CO2/km. As far as the other Group brands are concerned, the e-models, ecomotive or greenline series demonstrate what is already technically possible today. And Volkswagen will continue to set the fuel consumption trend going forward, too: second-generation biofuels, fuel cells or electric traction – “Our sights are firmly set on the future,” Winterkorn said, “we combine the best of both worlds: performance and driving pleasure join forces with unbeatably low consumption.”

But what would a Group evening be without a big surprise? There was a stir among the audience as the Passat BlueMotion drove onto the stage. The next generation of this successful model has a 110 PS Blue TDI engine, fuel consumption of 4.1 liters and will soon be emitting a mere 109 grammes CO2/km. As Winterkorn put it: “That is just amazing!”

Volkswagen has the cleanest fleet and still produces emotional cars. And the guests loved it!
