The challenge
Mobility is more than just cars – it’s a complete ecosystem, from highly automated or even autonomous driving to new interior concepts, faster car charging and groundbreaking digital services. The next generation of Volkswagen vehicles on the SSP (Scalable Systems Platform) offers huge potential when it comes to safety, convenience and revolutionary driving experiences, and is a benchmark for what we define as the future of mobility.
Join VW's transformation now
The approach
The electric age of mobility is based on a whole new foundation. A revolutionary way of thinking and producing. The Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) will have a systemic focus on software and will become the Volkswagen Group’s new platform for an all-electric, fully connected and digitally integrated approach.
Following an architecture first approach will enable us to cut development times by 25 percent.
System engineers – the pace-setters of the transformation
Volkswagen is turning the group’s largest engineering unit into one of the main drivers of the company’s transformation. The technical development division and related divisions are fundamentally redesigning their development process, making it interdisciplinary, systems-oriented, software-focused and function-driven.
The all-new Sandkamp Campus will be the ultra-modern new home for Volkswagen's systems engineers, architects, process specialists and out-of-the-box thinkers who collaborate to define the future of mobility. Having all these disciplines under one roof makes cross-divisional collaboration and decision-making quick and easy.
With an innovative testing and simulation infrastructure, agile development methods and a state-of- the-art working environment, the technical development centre will play a pioneering role in Volkswagen’s overall transformation.
The impact
Shape what’s coming and be part of the next big thing. A carbon-neutral, digital-first approach has the power to change mobility for the better. That's what we believe in. That's what we're working on.
Fundamental change is a process. It requires a clear vision, courage, commitment and endurance to stay on track. Who could be better suited for that journey than Europe's biggest car manufacturer and the smartest systems engineers out there? Let's get going.
