Since 2016, MOIA has developed a digital ecosystem for the entire value chain of ridepooling – from apps to algorithms to fleet management. MOIA has been offering its service in Hanover since summer 2018. The first city with over a million inhabitants, Hamburg, followed in April 2019. Since autumn 2021, MOIA has been working with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles on a pilot project for autonomous ridepooling. Cities all over the world aim to make their transport more efficient and climate-friendly in the future. Autonomous ridepooling can be an important lever in achieving this goal. As a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) provider, MOIA has all the necessary competences to transform an autonomous vehicle and a self-driving system into an autonomous ridepooling service. An autonomous, internationally scalable system for Hamburg is being developed by 2025.
Digital thinking needs new minds – and a creative workplace. MOIA’s management team deliberately relies on small core teams. As an independent company within the Volkswagen Group, MOIA is agile enough to keep pace with the latest technological developments and to operate successfully in the dynamic market of new mobility. For good reason, MOIA is therefore also based in Berlin and Hamburg. This is where precisely those creative minds from the European digital start-up scene are located that are needed for this new way of thinking.
