More than 2,000 Volkswagen Group in Spain employees will benefit from SEAT’s health services
- Workers at Volkswagen Group Retail España, Volkswagen Group Services and MAN Energy Solutions España y Canarias join SEAT’s 15,000 employees
- This service is expected to gradually extend to all direct employees of the Volkswagen Group in Spain
SEAT is extending its Health, Safety, Emergencies and Corporate Wellness services to all Volkswagen Group in Spain companies. From now on, more than 2,000 workers at Volkswagen Group Retail España, Volkswagen Group Services and MAN Energy Solutions España y Canarias will benefit from the health services that SEAT provides to its own 15,000 employees.
For now, this means that extending attention to the rest of the Volkswagen Group in Spain companies represents a 13% increase in the number of workers treated. It is expected that employees in other Group companies will also benefit from SEAT’s health and safety services in upcoming months.
SEAT Vice-president for Human Resources Xavier Ros stated that “this is just the first step so that Volkswagen Group in Spain companies can benefit from this health and prevention service. People are the true driving force behind the Volkswagen Group and therefore our goal is that in the future, the 23,000 employees in Spain have access to first-rate health services that are free of charge, as well as safer and healthier jobs.”
Employees of Volkswagen Group Retail Services, Volkswagen Group Services and MAN Energy Solutions España y Canarias can have annual medical check-ups and access to the free services provided by the CARS Health and Rehabilitation Centre in Martorell, such as personalised treatment in areas including orthopaedics, cardiology, gynaecology, physiotherapy and mental health, as well as rehabilitation and fitness with customised training programmes.
Formulas are currently being studied on how to extend the concept of CARS’ advanced health services to those employees in distant geographical locations; for example, with the possibility of them going to approved medical centres that offer the same services in each city.
Since its inauguration in 2017, 60,000 medical visits have been made at CARS. Moreover, primary health care provided by the SEAT medical services has reduced the time spent on patient diagnosis, treatment and recovery, and more importantly has had a very positive effect on prevention. In 2017 alone the number of work-related accidents went down by 48%.
Specific unit for women’s health
SEAT’s Health Care and Rehabilitation Centre features a specific unit for women’s health, offering consultations for the diagnosis and prevention of different diseases, such as gynaecological check-ups for Group employees for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer. In fact, SEAT is the only company in Spain that offers complete, in-company annual gynaecology check-ups free of charge to its female employees.
In one year more than 3,400 ultrasounds and over 300 mammograms were performed, and 10 cases of early stage cancer were detected. According to Dr. Patricia Such, who heads SEAT’s Occupational Health and Safety area, “85% of the women treated at CARS so far had never had these kinds of tests performed. In a company with such a high number of female employees it is also our duty to ensure the health of women by offering a professional, personalised service.”
