Five reasons why the time for E-mobility is ripe

Five reasons why the time for E-mobility is ripe

If not now, when? Who, if not us? Five reasons why the time for e-mobility is ripe.

Some say, wait and see. Surely everything will become even cheaper, better and more developed. But the great thing is: You don’t have to wait any longer! Because the time for electric mobility is ripe. Anyone who embarks on e-mobility now and in the coming years is not only doing the environment a favor, they are also helping to make mobility quieter, more efficient and cleaner. Five good reasons why the time for electric mobility is now.

Reason 1: Protecting the environment

Climate change is the greatest challenge of the present. The goal is a climate-neutral society. In addition to other industries, the automotive industry must also contribute to this. The fastest and most efficient way to do this is with e-mobility. With the ID.31, we will be delivering a climate-neutral e-car to customers for the first time.

There is no doubt that CO₂ emissions caused by humans have to be reduced as soon as possible. Time is short. In addition to other economic sectors, transportation must also do its part. Volkswagen has chosen to accept its responsibility and wants to become part of the solution.

Note in accordance with Directive 1999/94/EC in its currently applicable version: Further information on official fuel consumption figures and the official specific CO₂ emissions of new passenger cars can be found in the EU guide "Information on the fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and energy consumption of new cars", which is available free of charge at all sales dealerships, from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Straße 1, D-73760 Ostfildern, Germany and at www.dat.de.

How we make mobility CO₂-neutral

Reason 2: E-cars are fun

Electric cars are not only more climate-friendly, but also much more efficient – especially over a longer period of time, when operated with green electricity. The powerful electric motors offer full torque right from the start – without interrupting the traction – and accelerate forward with an impressive force of velocity. In addition, the batteries are integrated into the vehicle floor, which ensures a low center of gravity and optimum weight distribution. As well as that, they do not pollute the environment – neither with noise, nor with exhaust fumes. And they herald a new era in design, like the Volkswagen ID. Family shows.

Reason 3: E-cars are suitable for everyday use

Small turning circle, more interior space with the same exterior dimensions, fast charging: With the ID.31 and other Volkswagen electric vehicles, electric cars have arrived at the center of everyday life. Compared to earlier models, the charging capacity of the ID.3, for example, is now twice as high. With the appropriate charging station, you can charge enough electricity in half an hour for a journey of around 200 kilometers, depending on your driving style. This means that electric cars are far beyond the pure early adopter phase and on their way to an electric car for everyone.

Reason 4: Charging is convenient and simple

Most people will charge their e-car at home or at work. This is extremely convenient, because it happens without much thought or planning. Volkswagen offers great possibilities here with its Wallboxes and its own green electricity (dem Energie-Unternehmen Elli). In addition, the Group is investing around 250 million euros in the expansion of the charging infrastructure at its sites. The number of public charging points is also growing: in Germany there are currently around 20,000 charging points. In the future, Volkswagen We Charge will provide the opportunity of having access to more than 100,000 public charging points throughout Europe.

Reason 5: The timing is ideal

Volkswagen ID.3¹ study, a milestone in modern electric mobility

Numerous countries around the globe provide state subsidies to buyers of electric vehicles (BEV) and PHEV. In Germany, this support operates under the ‘environmental bonus’ title. Up to the end of 2020, buyers of pure electric cars will continue to receive 4,000 euros in support, while buyers of plug-in hybrids will continue to receive 3,000 euros. Those who drive an electric car (or a plug-in hybrid) as a company car also benefit from the 0.5 percent rule: since January 2019, only 0.5 instead of 1 percent of the list price has to be taxed monthly for these vehicles as a non-cash benefit. Additionally: anyone who registers now for the exclusive special edition ID.3 1ST will be able to fill up with free electricity throughout Europe during the first year.
