Refugee Aid

Commitment and conviction: The Volkswagen Group and its employees support refugees in many different ways

Volkswagen takes responsibility. With Refugee Aid, we have set up a dedicated organizational unit that coordinates our aid projects for refugees across all brands, cooperates specifically with national and international aid organizations and promotes the humanitarian commitment of our employees in the area of flight and migration.

We are a long-standing partner of major aid organizations working to help refugees. These include UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe e.V., the German Red Cross and many local and municipal organizations.

Volkswagen provides immediate aid, including the provision of helpers and experts in refugee accommodations, vehicle loans to our established partners, and donations of money and goods. We are just as intensively committed to the areas of language acquisition and qualification. These are the key to trainability and professional integration.

At various Group sites, we provide targeted support for entry-level vocational training and school and university education. Many Group brands, sales regions and Volkswagen dealerships hire refugees, making it easier for them to arrive in their new living situation.

More than 6,000 refugees have already taken part in initiatives in the Volkswagen AG environment. In addition, several thousand people have received emergency assistance.

In addition to providing rapid support to those affected, the Group's refugee aid program aims to inspire employees and encourage them in their commitment. We are convinced that as an international company that offers a home to a wide variety of cultures, Volkswagen can make more than just a humanitarian contribution. Our employees are just as capable of contributing to social cohesion and successful integration. We are committed to this goal.

The latest on the Ukraine crisis

The Volkswagen Group with its more than 670,000 employees is dismayed by the suffering of the people in Ukraine. Our heartfelt solidarity goes out to them.

To help alleviate the humanitarian crisis, all Group brands have made monetary donations. In addition, the largest employee donation in the history of Volkswagen AG raised more than €2 million in Germany alone.

Numerous employees have launched aid projects, particularly in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Volkswagen also supports aid organizations with vehicles to transport refugees and relief supplies.
